Cockles Week Activities
Welcome to Cockles Week - a week full of exciting activities!
Find out about each of the activities below, including what you need to bring!
Ceramics
One of our longest running and most loved activites join the team from Fired Art in Ryde to paint a plain pottery item. The item varies each year (plate, mug, lighthouse candle stand, pencil holder etc.) but the joy stays the same!

Your little one paints it however they like, then they are labelled, taken away, fired and returned to you around a week later! If you won't be in Seaview then please nominate a family member or friend to collect for you.

AGES PARTICIPATING: All
ITEMS NEEDED: Creativity!
Buttons
Lesa from I Heart Buttons, Ryde brings you a simple and delightful activity for your little ones. Sort through thousands of beautiful buttons of every shape and colour and stick them onto a canvas to decorate a vase of flowers or dinosaur. Take it away with you right away!

AGES: Little Ones
ITEMS NEEDED: Passion!
Swimming
Enjoy a short swim with our very experienced teacher Ava Pearce. No mucking around though! She is a professional and takes her craft, and you little ones' safety, very seriously!

AGES: All
ITEMS NEEDED: Swimmers

Please bring swimmers for yourself as well as your little one if they are not a strong swimmer. We also recommend goggles, warm towels and dry clothes.

Please note, there is NO LOO available at this site, so we recommend popping to the SVYC or the Chill Out Zone if you need a wee!
Mega SUP
The instructors from Tackt Isle will pile all of the children onto one MEGA stand up paddleboard, as they explore the shallows, play games and jump in for a swim.

AGES: Big Ones
ITEMS NEEDED: Swimmers & Lifejacket

No need for the adults to get wet on this one - phew! But your little one will need suncream, swimmers, a lifejacket if you have one (they have spares if not) and a warm towel. We also recommend lots of water as they are always thirsty after being in the sea!
Horse Riding
Walk alongside your little ones as they enjoy a gentle hack through the trees around Priory and Nodes Point. They will walk, and trot, enjoy the countryside and most importantly get to snuggle some horses.

AGES: 4+
ITEMS NEEDED: Long trousers & closed toed shoes (ideally boots). Please note that if your child is under 6 you will be asked to walk alongside them. You must NOT wear flip flops or an accidental hoof could be extremely painful. Remember, this activity is located between Nettlestone and St Helens so you need to drive there, make sure you allow enough time, and why not share a lift to save on petrol and hassle!
T-Shirt Design
Lesa from I Heart Buttons, Ryde brings you a real creatige challenge. Use stencils and permanent fabric pens to design your own t-shirt. Write your name, draw your favourite things, or cover it in patterns, the joy is in finding your own path!

AGES: Little Ones
ITEMS NEEDED: Design mindset!
Rowing
A little independence can be so empowering. Set your little one off in a Peanut: tiny rowing boats designed for tiny hands and feet. Let them explore the high seas and practice their technique, safe in the knowledge you (or one of our helpers) is holding on to the rope!

AGES: Big Ones
ITEMS NEEDED: Lifejacket & swim things

Please bring a lifejacket, swimmers for your little one, warm towels and dry clothes. We recommend adults wear shorts, or something they don't mind getting wet as you will need to wade out to hold onto your little one's boat.
The exceptional Nick Hayward will be running this activity with a couple of helpers, but we hope most grown-ups will get involved!
Chill Out Zone
A space to stop and rest, socialise between activities, lounge in the sun, grab some shade, and have a wee!
Food and drinks are available to buy - we will just take your name and add it to your club bill. We cannot accept cash.

AGES: All
NEEDED: SVYC Account to buy snacks and drinks
Football
You don't need to be good at football, or even like it, to enjoy running around this inflatable pitch kicking balls to and from each other, at parents, and feeling the high of scoring a goal!

AGES: Little Ones
ITEMS NEEDED: Lots of hydration & energy!

Be warned, parents are often asked to participate, especially with the little ones, so wear stretchy clothes (wading over the inflatable walls is a stretch!) and have your own hydration handy, especially if you have had a few rosés the night before. Ice cold Diet Cokes can be bought at the Chill Out Zone!
Dodgeball
They say, if you can dodge a wrench, you can dodge a ball. But don't worry, nobody is going to make you bleed your own blood, this is strictly good fun for everyone!

AGES: All
ITEMS NEEDED: Resilience, and killer mindset.
Tennis
Ben is an experienced tennis coach and Seaview regular, and we are being hosted by the Isle of Wight Sports Club which has been recently taken over and is excited to welcome new users! Ben will take your little ones through age appropriate games, practices and techniques to have fun, and learn a little something too!

AGES: All
ITEMS NEEDED: Water & Sunscreen

There is no shade, so this activity really takes it out of them. Water and sunscren are always a good plan, but especially important for this activity! Maybe a snack too - you can always stock up in the Chill Out Zone.
Dance Party
Join Clara in a jump around to burn off some energy! Learn some cool new moves, listen to some happy pop classics, and then relax as you lie on the floor for the final 5 minutes to unwind, relax and zone out.

AGES: All
ITEMS NEEDED: Yoga Mat / towel / picnic rug

Wild Isle
Elle from Wild Isle will be taking you on a journey of discovery to become a Beach Detective! Learn more about our beautiful island and all the interesting things you can find on the beach.

AGES: All
ITEMS NEEDED: An enquiring mind, and sunscreen / jumper

This is on the beach with no cover, so it might be glorious sunshine (sunscreen, water) or a bit chilly (jumper). Judge accordingly!
Animal Art
Paint your own stunning canvas of an animal you can find right here on the shores or in the waters of The Island. Emma, a local artist, will help your little ones create their own mini masterpiece to take home.

AGES: All
ITEMS NEEDED: Clothes you don't mind getting paint on.
Gardening
Led by some of the village's favourite grandparents, your little one will learn how plants grow, plant their own radish seed, then paint the pot to create a long lasting and beautiful keepsake. Your radishes should sprout in 3 or 4 days, and be ready to eat in just a few weeks. Yum!

AGES: All
ITEMS NEEDED: Ready to get muddy paws!

Although they will be given trowel there is a 100% chance they will just stick their little fingers right in the soil anyway, so they might need a little wash down afterwards!
Sailing (dry)
For our older Cockles, Junior Cadet Week is just around the corner, so we thought it would be nice to start introducing them to the basics! Join Nick Stuart to see how a Topper is rigged, learn some of the parts of a boat and play fun team games!

AGES: Big Ones
ITEMS NEEDED: Excitement!
